Embracing Endings: Finding Beauty in Seasons That Close

As the world around us transitions from one season to the next, we are reminded of the beautiful rhythm of life - a cycle of endings and beginnings, of closure and renewal. I’ve come to appreciate the cyclical nature of my life, being happy about endings and excited about experiencing new beginnings.

For many of us, the recent culmination of life journeys, such as graduating from university, moving from one job to another and even moving from one relationship to another, symbolizes the end of a cherished season. It's a momentous occasion filled with mixed emotions - pride in our accomplishments, excitement for the future, but also a hint of nostalgia for the experiences and relationships formed.

I recently graduated and it was a momentous occasion but also an end to a season. Graduation is not just about receiving a qualification; it's about closing a chapter of our lives and embarking on a new adventure. It's a time to pause and reflect on the lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the growth experienced during our time in academia. It's an opportunity to celebrate our achievements and acknowledge the support of those who have been with us on this journey.

But beyond the realm of academia, the concept of seasons ending holds broader significance in our lives. Just as nature teaches us to embrace change and find beauty in transition, so too must we learn to accept the endings that come our way - whether it's the end of a job, a relationship, or a phase of life.

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook the importance of introspection and reflection. Yet, taking the time to pause and assess where we've been, where we are, and where we're headed is essential for personal growth and fulfillment. It allows us to gain clarity, set new goals, and recalibrate our priorities as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of life. By letting go of what no longer serves us and embracing the uncertainty of new beginnings, we open ourselves up to endless possibilities and opportunities for growth.

So, as we imerge from seasons that have come to a close - whether it's the end of a semester, a chapter, or an era - here is a little activity to complete. Think about all the lessons you’ve learnt, think about all the things you have seen, and also think about all your achievements. If you can, you should write them down and as you step into this new season, remember who you were at the beginning of the previous season and see how much growth you’ve experienced, acknowledge that it wasn't easy but you did it regardless. So approach this new season with your head up and chest out because if you could do it then, you can do it now.
